On Saturday, the 87th Utkal Dibas, also known as Odisha Day, was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm in Kolkata. The event was organized by the Utkaliya Milita Mancha and Odisha Government's Information and Public Relations Department at the Rotary House.
Former MLA Priyadarshi Mishra graced the occasion as the chief guest and gave a speech highlighting the sacrifices of great people that made Odisha the first linguistic state of India. The guest of honor, social activist Rajeev Kumar Bal, also addressed the gathering and spoke about the rich culture of Odisha.
The keynote speaker, social activist Rosalin Pattshani Mishra, emphasized the importance of language in a nation's richness and urged the attendees to work towards restoring the glory of Odisha. The President of the United Forum presided over the event, and the Executive President Kshirod Dhal delivered the welcome speech. General Secretary of the Forum, Vijay Kumar Barik, gave a detailed lecture, and Palace Director Harihar Sahu, social worker Amita Pal, and Dr. Tapas Mazumdar were felicitated.
Artistes of Sandhya Mayurbhanj, a beautiful hymn sent by the Odisha government, were also felicitated by Samani Mancha, and awards were presented to students from 20 schools. Pramod Kumar Praharaj, ex-executive president, expressed gratitude to all the attendees, and the event was managed by Prashant Kumar Das, Editor of Education Cell.
The celebration of Utkal Dibas was significant as it honors the memory of the two legendary figures of Odisha, Pandit Gopabandhu and Pandit Nilakantha Das. The event was a testimony to the rich culture of Odisha and the pride of its people.
